Vice President of Community Relations & Business Development
Centier Bank
Anthony Contrucci is the Vice President of Community Relations & Business Development for Centier Bank, headquartered in Merrillville, Indiana. He joined the bank in 2011, where he has served in several capacities. Born in New Jersey and raised in Southeast Florida, Anthony is an alumnus of Bentley University in Massachusetts, and Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He has spent his career in banking and finance with a focus on strategic planning, prospect development, relationship management, and capital procurement. Anthony enjoys the challenges of building and managing brands, enhancing culture, and developing innovative and unique marketing initiatives as well as client acquisition strategies. In his current role, Anthony has the opportunity and privilege to work closely with the communities Centier serves. He is an active champion and ambassador of the organization’s Philanthropy, Financial Wellness/Literacy, and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). He is a visible representative of Centier and is involved in many facets of the company. Anthony’s commitment to the community includes his service as a member of multiple boards and committees, community volunteerism, and emceeing events both at Centier and in conjunction with partnering organizations. Centier’s deep-rooted history, along with continuing its legacy, is a motivating factor for Anthony. Centier was founded in Whiting, Indiana in 1895 by Henry Schrage, Anthony’s wife Melissa’s great-great -grandfather. Today, Centier is a household name in the communities it serves, being it is the largest private, family-owned bank in Indiana, with approximately $4.7 Billion in total assets, 62 branches (with more to come), and more than 900 associates. The Schrage family, now in its 5th generation of succession, still proudly owns and operates Centier as a full-service financial institution with continued plans for growth. However, the family’s primary goal is that the organization remains a private, family-owned bank that continues to define itself by providing world-class, personalized banking services to its clients, as well as community involvement and charity through its servant heart culture. Centier strives to preserve hometown community banking and remain Indiana’s most values-driven, private, independent community bank for generations to come. As a 5th generation member of the Schrage family, Anthony is extremely passionate about his day-to-day operational responsibilities within the family business. However, his true passion lies in the work that he does in service of the family’s broader enterprise. He serves as a member of the Schrage family council and is tasked with being a leader in the Schrage’s family governance journey and the pursuits pertaining to the family office. Centier is preparing to mark its 125th Anniversary in April of 2020. Anthony is most excited about spearheading several large-scale historical projects to commemorate the milestone. Anthony resides in Northwest Indiana with his wife Melissa (nee Schrage) and their two children who are themselves proud members of the 6th generation of the Schrage family.
